Astro Capital is hiring a full-time Investment Strategist to manage underwriting, portfolio monitoring, and financial modeling. We are looking for an expert in finance and data analysis to turn rigorous research into actionable investment decisions.
Position Summary:
Astro Capital is seeking a full-time Investment Strategist to support the firm’s investment underwriting, market analysis, portfolio monitoring, and strategic decision-making. This role is responsible for conducting rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis of private investment opportunities, building financial models, evaluating industry and company performance, and synthesizing findings into actionable investment recommendations. The position requires specialized knowledge in finance, economics, valuation, and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of prospective and existing investments, including analysis of business models, market opportunity, competitive positioning, unit economics, capital structure, and growth drivers.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including operating models, valuation models, sensitivity analyses, scenario analyses, and return frameworks used to assess investment attractiveness and downside/upside cases.
- Perform industry research, market mapping, competitive benchmarking, and company-specific diligence to evaluate investment opportunities across target sectors.
- Prepare investment memoranda, analytical summaries, portfolio review materials, and other written materials to support internal decision-making.
- Analyze private company financial statements, capitalization tables, financing history, and transaction documentation to assess investment quality and risk.
- Monitor portfolio companies and pipeline opportunities by tracking key performance indicators, financing events, strategic developments, and broader market conditions.
- Conduct research on macroeconomic trends, capital markets developments, and sector-specific themes relevant to the firm’s investment strategy.
- Develop structured frameworks to compare and prioritize opportunities based on expected return, risk, liquidity profile, and strategic fit.
- Support transaction execution and diligence processes through review of data room materials, management materials, and third-party research.
- Present findings, models, and recommendations to senior leadership in a clear, organized, and decision-useful format.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Financial Economics or Financial Engineering.
- Strong academic background in financial analysis, valuation, economics, and quantitative methods.
- Experience with financial modeling, investment analysis, market research, and interpreting company performance data.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong ability to work with financial and analytical datasets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations.
- Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.

Work Environment / Supervision:
The Investment Strategist will work directly for Astro Capital and will perform services exclusively under Astro Capital’s supervision and control. The role is an internal investment and strategy position for the firm and is not a third-party placement role.
